The 1921 club fundraiser

Raising Blades

Since 1921, Somerville students have rowed with courage, community, and commitment. From early-morning outings on the Isis to bumping up through divisions, our crews have carried the legacy of Somerville rowing with pride. Today, we need your help to continue that tradition.

today

After years of use — and hundreds of outings — many of SCBC’s oars are nearing the end of their competitive life. Blades are expensive, with each set costing hundreds of pounds, and replacing them is vital if our current students are to train and race on equal footing with other colleges.

OUR AIM

We are aiming to raise £6,000 to fund:

Two sets of sweep oars (for men’s and women’s first boats)

One set of sculling blades for novice and recreational rowers

Repairs to existing stock to ensure continued use for second and third boats

PLEASE SUPPORT

Support this campaign and help power the next generation of Somerville crews. Whether you rowed in Torpids, Summer Eights, or simply cheered from the bank, your support keeps the spirit — and the boats — moving forward.

Donations of £300 or more will be recognised by having your name added to a blade.
